Et foredrag om at gøre sig umage.
En fortælling om Aage Damgaard, fabrikant, kunst- og kulturelsker og samfundsdebattør.
En fortælling om at lykkes på trods, om udsyn, mod, kreativitet, nysgerrighed osv.
Det er også en fortælling om den ordblinde bondedreng fra Midtjylland, der endte som succesfuld erhvervsmand.
Fortællingen tager udgangspunkt i min egen familiehistorie, som datter af skjortefabrikant Aage Damgaard og senere grundlægger af restaurantkæden A Hereford Beefstouw. En mand der i 1950erne og 60erne revolutionerede både dansk industrihistorie og dansk kunsthistorie, ved at lade de to brancher mødes på Skjortefabrikken Angli. Allerede dengang indså Aage Damgaard, at kunsten havde et stort formativt potentiale, hvorfor kunstnere og kunsten blev en helt central brik i ledelsesprofilen. Kunsten skulle ifølge Aage Damgaard være hver mands eje!
